Ojai

There is no other city in the world I would pick for half hippies before Ojai, California. As the place where John Lennon and Yoko Ono used to escape from the world, Ojai has a history of pulling people in not letting them go until they have had proper rest and done enough downward dogs. Here you can spend your mornings walking the dog and picking grapefruit for breakfast. There are plenty of yoga studios, and locals willing to lend you their surfboards. Within my first two weeks of living here, I was invited to the neighbors for a lesson in beekeeping, and came home with my own jar of honey.  Sunday afternoon is my favorite time to go into town and see all of the visitors riding around on matching white bicycles, courtesy of the local resort. Because this is the coveted retreat of many LA natives, Ojai is gracious to it's weekenders and leaves anyone feeling more inner peace. Essentially, Ojai is a big hug for the soul.
