"THE GRAND CANYON OF THE PACIFIC"
My inner granola definitely found the drive to Waimea Canyon worth it. Actually, I think it was my favorite site on the island of Kauai. It was exactly like the Grand Canyon, but green. Imagine that! There are multiple lookouts to choose from, depending on how much time you want to spend driving deeper into the canyon. We drove in to the first main one at about 4pm, and it ended up being great timing because as we drove out of the hills, we caught site of the ocean again right at the best light of day, and ended up watching the sunset on the beach. which was a good escape from the mini road trip it took to get to these views.
